LL.M. in Law and Business

The LL.M. in Law and Business is available to students from around the world who have earned a graduate degree in law from an accredited college or university. This elite, multidisciplinary program offers an innovative approach to education that truly prepares students for the practice of law in today’s global economy, whether that be in an international law firm or in the legal department of a multinational corporation. The focus is on the acquisition of know-how, in addition to providing a strong base in theory. Therefore, the study of law is supplemented by business-related courses including economics, finance and marketing, and classes are taught by practitioners who are leaders in their fields, in addition to prominent university professors.

Curriculum highlights
The Business and Law LLM program has been developed in conjunction with renowned legal scholars from the prestigious Université de Paris-Sorbonne and prominent practitioners, including partners in top international law firms and the general counsels of major multinational corporations. Our faculty encourages the development of critical thinking and personal judgment, and urges students to improve their writing and oral presentation skills. Moreover, at HEAD, students are constantly challenged to improve their practical lawyering skills through collaborative workshops and team projects.

The curriculum includes a minimum of 540 hours of class time giving access to a minimum of 62 ECTS credits. Each student may select from a large array of courses. This selection is made in collaboration with an academic advisor in order to ensure that the student’s career objectives and interests are met.

Academic year
The academic year runs from September to May.

Additional courses or 6-month internship
LLM Law and Business candidates who choose to stay longer in Paris may register for an additional semester of courses, or make use of HEAD's placement office to find a 6-month internship following the end of the program.

Language proficiency
Courses in the LLM Law and Business program are taught entirely in English. Therefore, this program is restricted to students for whom English is their first language, or who have obtained a sufficiently high score on an English proficiency exam. The recommended minimum score for the TOEFL-iBT, for example, is 90.
